I feel like I’m really wary of people who use the phrase “Men and women are different.” Or “Men and women’s’ brains work differently.” because I’m so used to that phrase being followed by the person trying to justify why men are better than women, or women are better than men. (Most often it’s the first.)
This is something I’m trying to get over because I’ve been saying “Different doesn’t mean unequal.” for a while now but I still can’t shake the defensive feeling I get when someone starts talking about how different we are from each other.
I don’t think men and women are quite as different as everyone would like to believe. But I still think acknowledging certain differences isn’t a bad thing as long as it not used to prove the superiority of one group over another.
